Piranha Paintball Gun Lubrication and Maintanance Procedures

WARNING:
The procedures published on this page were written for the following Piranha Markers: VTL G2, BL G2, BL VF G3, STS G3, STS VF G3, EXT PRO G3, and Pro TS G3 and is not intended for usage on any other paintball marker (gun).

Do not attempt to perform maintenance on your gun unless you are qualified to do so. Do not disassemble your marker unless it is completely drained of compressed gas or air and all paintballs have been removed. All filling of compressed gas or air cylinders must be done by a qualified airsmith. Do not attempt to perform maintenance procedures yourself unless you are 100% qualified. If you are unsure on how to perform a certain procedure contact a local paintball gun airsmith for assistance. Paintball marker power systems must be repaired or replaced only with the correct pressure rated components.

Disassembly Procedure

1. Before disassembling your Piranha paintball gun insure that the guns safety is on, next remove the air tank, then remove all paintballs from the marker, barrel, and loader.

2. Leave the barrel plug firmly inserted in the barrel and keep the barrel pointed in a safe direction.

Figure 13. To remove the bolt / hammer assembly, first remove the field strip pin. See figure 1; the field strip pin is at the center rear of the receiver and is removed by pulling out the left side of the marker.
Figure 24. Grasp the block assembly and slowly begin to pull the bolt / hammer assembly out of the marker. (Figure 2)
Figure 35. When the bolt / hammer assembly is about half way out, grasp it with one hand and continue to hold it intact while removing it completely from the marker. (Figure 3)

Hammer / Bolt

Lubrication - Proper lubrication of your paintball gun on a regular basis is a key factor in maintaining your guns performance and prolonging your guns life.

- It is recommended that a 100% synthetic gun oil, such as PMI Paintball Gun Oil, be used for lubricating the marker. Do not use automatic transmission fluid (ATF Fluid) or other similar lubricants as they will damage your guns o-rings.

1. Before each insertion of the removable power source (air tank or remote line) into the ASA Adapter, clean the threads and place 2 drops of oil on tank o-ring.

2. After removing the bolt / hammer assembly, put a drop of oil on each bolt o-ring as well as on the hammer o-ring. Use your finger or a soft, non abrasive cloth to spread the oil evenly across each o-ring.

3. Clean your barrel threads before screwing your barrel back onto your marker.

4. After removing your trigger frame, put a drop of oil on each of the trigger and sear pivot points.

5. The easiest way to oil the entire Piranha is to remove the barrel; put 4 drops of gun oil into the ASA adapter, screw the bottle in over the oil, and shoot the gun several dozen times without the barrel on. Make sure to remove the barrel so oil does not get deposited in the barrel.

Regular Maintenance for the Piranha

1. Clean all broken paint and any paintball shells out of your gun on a regular basis. This should be done before lubricating your gun.

2. Oil your gun before each time you play. There is nothing worse then having a gun breakdown on you in the middle of a game, so make sure that you have properly oiled it before each usage.

3. Inspect the bolt and hammer o-rings each time you oil the gun. Make sure these o-rings are getting oil.

4. Clean out the powerfeed or vertical feed. Any oil or paint in there will make the gun inaccurate or possibly cause jamming.

5. Never wash the bolt / hammer assembly with water unless you are going to oil it before reassembly. Dry before oiling.

6. Check the ball retainer after every 25,000 shots. Replace it if worn. If your gun frequently fires more then one ball at a time, it is a good bet that the ball retainer is worn and needs to be replaced.

7. Never stretch the hammer spring to increase velocity. This will shorten the life of the spring. If you need a different sized spring, contact a Piranha dealer about purchasing a spring kit for your gun.
